A Lot of Stuff Happened Week

I always have a hard time with titles for my entries so that was all I could think of because it is true.  A LOT happened this week or at least it feels like a lot because I have never been quite so consistent before now.  By now I would have abandoned the blog and tried to add something else to my already busy life.  By now I would have retreated into myself and let the kids run the show.  By now I would be so self-conscious and overwhelmed I would probably have given up and be wallowing in guilt.  I think it is weirding me out a little bit.  I feel all grown up and *gasp* responsible.  I like it, but it almost feels unnatural at least for me.

Highlights:

  • Nephew's birthday- yup, another one.  Malachi turned 8.  He is a smart and optimistic boy with big plans for the future.
    CAKE!
Hammer Time! -sorry I had to

    Cute Cousins
    Malachi
    Grandma and the Babies
    Proud Parents

  • Garden Planning- I am blessed to have a huge plot to work with.  I have never used the whole thing, but with the homemaking focus it has to be included.  It is a lot of work.  It will take a lot of money and supplies to get it the way I want it.  I got some basic seeds, albeit cheap seeds, but that is all I am willing to spend right now.  I did a little price checking at Wilco.  The main things I need is a raised bed system, some kind of help to keep weeds in check, fertilizer/compost, and possibly a better watering system.  I am still excited about it, but also worried that I am taking on something that will be abandoned quickly or will possibly be a fruitless effort.
  • Honesty- Even though I did get a lot done this week I have to confess that I did back into some bad habits.  Just time wasters and personal frustrations got the best of me a little bit this week so I think I tried to overcompensate.
  • Preschool Photo of the Week:  Abraham counting the stars.

  • Best Meal of the Week- Crock Pot Chicken Fajita Bowl  This was delicious with lots of sour cream and cheese.  We just made it with regular rice.  It almost didn't happen because the weather was so windy we lost power for about an hour, but it turned out great.
  • Cross Stitch Progress- This doesn't look like hours of work, but I am still getting the hang of it.

  • Bread Making - This website wasn't kidding!  This was some really good bread!   I was starting to worry because my dough was a whole lot stickier than the video, but I was excited to find out I have Pyrex bowls VERY similar to those used.  It is the little things that make me happy.  I was able to share this with the Ladies Bible Study.  I have enough to make more so, who is interested in coming over for a short fun baking day?

If you can't tell I feel like I am almost getting side tracked again into doing too many good things so I might not get around the things I mentioned a couple posts ago, but I "think" I figured out how to use my free time wisely from now on so more quality less quantity.

Hope you all have a great Valentine's Day tomorrow with all the ones you love.  Unless my husband has something planned it looks like my day will be grocery shopping and hanging out at home, but I LOVE just being at home so it will be great.  Love to you all!

End the Chapter

Dear Reader, I don't think I have ever been more angry, embarrassed, disappointed, and ashamed.  We are at the end of the chapter.  We...
