Mary, a Puzzle, and Almsgiving

"If you ever feel distressed during your day, call upon our Lady, just say this simple prayer: 'Mary, mother of Jesus, please be a mother to me now.'  I must admit, this prayer has never failed me."        -St. Teresa of Calcutta

Spring break is over.  Girls are back in school.  I am only a little behind in my writing.  All in all it is a beautiful Lenten season as we reach week 4- more than half way over!  I did a small personal devotion to Mother Mary while eating blueberry waffles and drinking blueberry tea.  I saw this statue of Mary in a neighbor's yard on my walk a few days ago.  It really is inspiring me to create a Marian garden but it is a little scary to want to put a statue in such close proximity to a Baptist church but it is still an idea and a prayer.  It may never go beyond that.

To take my mind off the current troubles and to fulfill the prompt for the day taking out a puzzle was so refreshingly simple and gave Lucy something to do with me.  It is a 1000 pieces so it is not so easy and I have loose goal of trying to finish it by Easter but at the rate I am going it might be done by Pentecost.

I live in a world of too much irony right now.  Many of the prompts and challenges this week were about giving money to your parish or charity and I checked our account this week.  It has less than $40 in the checking.  Usually we have a our tax return done by now so that really hurt when Amazon Prime took their yearly dues plus gas prices are almost $5 a gallon.  I have to keep looking at this as just another opportunity to trust God more and more.  It still hurts when I hear about everyone else's vacations or even something as innocuous seeming as raising prices for "Women's Ministry" events.  I cling to Jesus ever more tightly.  But praise be to God, we do have money for food and our house is a safe, warm place.  There is always something to be grateful for.

End the Chapter

Dear Reader, I don't think I have ever been more angry, embarrassed, disappointed, and ashamed.  We are at the end of the chapter.  We...
