Week One: Kitchen organizion: countertops and sink

These are before pictures.  It makes me realize I need to decorate too.  Is there a decorate challenge for next year after it is all organized?  I should look into that or maybe I can make a list for next year.  I need curtains, candles, art, towels, etc.  I also keep forgetting about the broken drawer and the plug that doesn't work.  Will add some sink pictures next time too.

Passover is Being...Passed over?

I wanted to celebrate Passover this year.  But was blocked by the fact that the store I shop at regularly did not carry the specific Passover things I wanted- matzo or matzo ball soup or the bottled grape juice.  Any way I was disappointed.  Tomorrow the plan is to call around before I go searching endlessly because after such fruitlessness I just got tired.

I love Passover Seder.  I am not Jewish but I love celebrating it for the Christian symbols.  I just don't know how you can NOT see Christ in the Passover.  We have celebrated at our church from time to time, but it had not been planned this year so I was hoping to have at least a meal and the Seder plate prepared.  My husband will probably think I am little cooky if I start bringing out the Haggaid and start singing Dayeinu plus my kids are so young I don't know how much of an actual Passover Seder they could sit through.  Ahh...wishful thinking...

Started the 52 Week Challenge to Organize the Home...I am super excited!!!!!  This week is organize the kitchen counter tops which I have a new idea about what to do with all the tons of cereal we have plus maybe I will remember to tell the maintenance at church to look at a plug that doesn't work.  Pictures?  I hope so.

Well- How to Start...Again

I was away for awhile for a couple of reasons.  I don't have the time to make a unique blog layout  because I don't know html.  I am just not THAT cool.  But since I finally found one I like.  It may be a lame-o reason but I just could not get motivated until it looked like something I could care about.  I like the three flowers on this layout because it represents my three beautiful daughters and the main topic of this blog will be about my family.

I am not very unique.  I copy from my much more creative friends and random others.  Well I don't straight up copy but it can be much harder for me to focus than I would like.  What got me back on to blogging are two of my blogging mamas I admire who keep things simple and uncomplicated (at least they seem to try to, right? right?)- Aboundantly Blessed and Pookaville  They have really blessed me and challenge me.  They make me look like a lazy slob, but a slob saved by the grace of the Almighty God.

This time I will try to keep updating more frequently and cleaning up links and side bars and columns etc...  Maybe I can bless someone, maybe this is just for me...it doesn't matter too much as long as I type.  Oh!  One last thing that keeps me from blogging regularly.  My husband loves the computer or at least watching TV on the computer until the wee hours of the morning so during times that would be ideal for typing thoughts ie when kids are sleeping my husband is using the only computer we have.  I am blessed to have an amazing husband with an awesome job and great house so I am not going to judge him for what he chooses to do with the computer or his time so, please, don't you either- thank you.

So the car died...

We were going to do our normal Monday routine- library, bank, $ Tree, and grocery store.  But the car said- "No way! click, click, click!"  (the only thing it ACTUALLY said was click, click, click.....)  We knew the car wasn't going to last much longer so today it has decided it had had enough.  It could be that it needs a new starter or battery, but I hope any mechanic who works on it will NOT try to find more things wrong and try to fix them and charge me for them because they will find a lot of stuff wrong.  The window on the driver's side does not roll down, the rear brake light is held together by reflecting tape, one of the valves is burnt out, the check engine light turns on/off with no pattern, and the hood of the car has no hydro-lix.  I am sure I could think of more but it would a waste of time.

Now I am not sure what to do about it.  We know we can't do anything this month because ironically we just paid our car insurance leaving nothing extra to fix the car with.  ....sigh....  God in you I trust and You gave me legs.  Let me see what they can do.

Blogging

I use to do it all the time.  I never felt like it was hard to think of something  to write about or even care if anyone was reading.  I started this new one because my site just would not load properly.  Plus my computer decides when it wants to work or not.  It felt weird not having one even if I never updated or posted anything.  I had been reading many mommy inspired blogs and just had to start over, but now I feel like I am blogging to either complain or brag.  But then a read Becky's blog and I couldn't stop crying even to comment  so maybe God can work through my insecurities and fix my brokenness.  That is all I have to say for now....

So....

I was going to start off with a challenge called the True Woman Make Over, but it was challenging enough trying to start a blog with a new layout and everything so maybe that will have to wait, and in any case will NOT be consecutive because of the random times I have the computer available to me.

Now where to start....today the my daughters and I went to the library.  We go every Monday.  Hermione, my three year old, is going through a preschool literacy curriculum so we get a lot of books (usually between 10-20 per week).  My 18-month old, Ariana, is not much of a reader but she loves pictures, especially dogs and Elmo.  After picking out videos I think Hermione may have seen 10+ times already we headed to the dollar store.  Now this is usually a very normal event, but turned out to be a little less normal for a couple of reasons.

1. Daddy gave each girl a dollar this morning to spend as they wished.
2. Instead of choosing candy, cookies, toys etc....Hermione decided to buy flower seeds (I am actually kind of proud because it appears she knows how to get the most for her money....maybe with a little prompting from mom)
3. Hermione told Ariana that she needed to spend her dollar on a shovel to plant the seeds (she had little choice)
4. We head out to the parking lot only to hear a man continually screaming "No Shelly!!!!!  bleep-a-dee-bleep-bleep!!!!"  To which I first thought he was talking to himself and next thing I know I see a lady driving up real slow next to him.  She was just crying hysterically.  I hesitated to cross the street with my kids and an unpredictable driver.  There was a man in a van in front of me who pointed to his head ( insert "crazy people" sign).  While this is happening Hermione is asking what are we doing.  I say we are waiting because two people are in a bad fight.  I overheard the man threaten to throw something into her car (I thought I heard fire cracker but that sounds a little random and then again what do I know?).  So I ran to car put the kids in and the crazy lady and the yelling guy have parked behind me.  Granted they looked like they were leaving the parking lot but I waited till I couldn't see them any more before heading out.

Then we went home and ate lunch like normal human beings until next time....

The Challenge

My family is important to me.  I want to write about them- the challenges, the hopes, fears, dreams etc.  It will be for my extended family and friends to view.  I will start with a prayer challenge starting on March 9th.

End the Chapter

Dear Reader, I don't think I have ever been more angry, embarrassed, disappointed, and ashamed.  We are at the end of the chapter.  We...
